Baby Shower

Today was Reed's baby shower and there was close to 100 people there! I made the 2 cakes and although it took me upwards of 6 hours, it was well worth it because Kaylie & Ryan loved it! Reed weighs 2 pounds 10 ounces today!

One Week Old

Our little Reed is officially one week old. The results of his ECHO showed a PDA (patent ductus arteriosus) and an ASD (atrial septal defect) but both are mild and require no intervention right now. He is taking 4ml of breast milk down his NG tube every 3 hours and weighs 1100 grams today which translates to about 2 pounds 7 ounces. He is allowed to be taken out of his isolette to be held now and he loves to be cuddled. I went down on my break and he was wide awake for me and HUNGRY....he was trying to shove both his hands in his mouth along with my finger. Kaylie got her staples out yesterday and gets her braces on today.

Little Reedy Bug Update

Sorry but MiMi is a day behind in updates. Reed had to be put on CPAP Tuesday because he was getting tired and forgetting to breathe. He did really well and came off of it yesterday after getting caffeine doses started. He is under the bili lights for jaundice and looks so cute with his eye covers on, the nurses write little sayings on them and his nurse last night drew eyelashes on it too! He had his ultrasound of his head and he does not have any bleeds in his brain which we are ecstatic about. We are still waiting to hear the results of his ECHO (ultrasound of his heart). HIs weight is down to 1007 grams which translates to roughly 2 pounds 3 ounces. His umbilical artery line will be taken out by Monday and a PICC line put in. I am posting a picture of him on his CPAP.

MiMi & G-Pa

Kaylie got to come home today and is doing really well. They had to head back out to rent her breast pump and also meet with someone from SSI because Reed will qualify for a monthly assistance check because he is so premature and will require alot of specialized care once he is home. He will have therapists that will work with him and such. The hospital arranges all these appts and lets her know what he will need and they have been great on education and information. I am posting some pictures from my visit yesterday, for some reason I am the only one who has brought an actual camera, the guys are all using there camera phones! Kaylie & Ryan will be staying with MiMi & G-Pa (this is what Kevin and I have decided to call ourselves) for a couple of weeks.

Reed Mason Webb is here!

I am proud to announce that Reed Mason Webb was born via an emergency C-section on July 27, 2009 at 11:49pm. He weighs 2 pounds 5 ounces and is 15 inches long. He is doing great, he is in an oxygen hood that is giving him a little bit of oxygen but other than that he is doing fine. Kaylie is having some problems with some bleeding and her blood pressure but they are keeping an eye on her. The whole time she has been in the hospital Ryan has been able to stay the night but today she got a room mate and he was not allowed to stay. She called me screaming to hurry and get to the hospital that they were rushing her to the OR and Ryan would not be there in time. I barely made it....they had to put her to sleep but I was allowed to stand outside the door and once the baby was out they let me stand inside the doorway. I got to carry him over to the NICU and put him in the bed and was allowed to stay in there with him the whole time while they put an arterial line in his umbilical. Normally that is not allowed but because I work in the NICU I was granted permission. I have some pictures to post...she is in room 237 at Women & CHildren's Hospital.

Cystic Fibrosis Walk

I know that I am posting out of order but forgot this one. Back in May I raised money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and did a 5K walk (in the rain)with some of my co-workers an families of some of my patients. Part of my job , on a volunteer basis, involves doing things in the community like the Cystic Fibrosis Walk, the HealthFest as well as other things. I am very involved in committees and projects at the hospital as well as in the community as a respresentative of my department. I have several patients that I take care of on a regular basis with CF and it is a cause that is close to my heart. If you have a walk in your community try to take part or at least make a donation so that we may find a cure!

The End of Another school year

Well, the girls finished up another school year this past Friday. Brianna had her 6th grade graduation banquet on Tuesday and received several awards. SHe received a gold medal for Jumping for Heart, Strings (her violin) and a trophy for Elite Leadership, Citizenship and Salutatorian (having a 3.7 GPA or higher from 3rd grade-6th grade). Kelsie had her awards day on Friday and received a certificate for track and a medal for highest GPA in the whole 8th grade in Math. I worked at the CAMC Healthfest at the Civic Center all day on Saturday. I was filmed for the local news and me and Crystal, a girl I work with, were asked to film a commercial to be on TV for next year's Healthfest. It was fun and will be neat to see on TV next year!

Reed's Baby Blanket

Well Nanna has finally finished crocheting Reed's baby blanket. I wanted to make this one unique and extra special so I figured out (after much aggravation and discouragement) how to crochet letters and put his name in his blanket. Ryan picked out the colors that they wanted and I think that it turned out pretty cute! Please notice on my page that Kaylie & Ryan have a blog now and be sure to add them to your list of blogs. Hopefully we will all be visiting y'all in Texas June 17-20 if things work out. Ryan is excited to meet his new family and to visit Texas and we are all excited to see everyone.

Graduated Girl

My baby girl graduated tonight! It was both exciting and sad and I only shed some tears when she walked out during the processional. For those of you who remember my graduation 20 YEARS AGO if you can believe it....Bill and his sidekicks yelled HOOT HOOT HOOT like a bunch of wild dogs when I got my dipolma. WELL....we were discussing this while waiting for things to get started and Kev-O asked Bill if he was goig to do that for Kaylie and he said no......wouldnt you know that when she walked across that stage to get her dipolma both Kelsie and Bill did that to her! Glad that it is all over...only a couple more kiddos to go! I have also posted a picture, thanks to my Mommma's brilliant idea, of her from kindergarten graduation for comparison.

I am such a LOSER!

Since December I have lost about 40 pounds. Working 2 jobs and midnights makes for skipping meals and losing weight. This morning I tried on a pair, well several pairs, or capris from last year.....as you can see, my clothes no longer fit me! I knew from having to buy new scrubs that I was losing but it wasnt until I tried on my real clothes that I actually realized what a difference it was making. I still have a ways to go but it looks like I am off to a good start and am making some noticeable progres....go me go me!

It is a BOY!

Kaylie and Ryan had their ultrasound yesterday and found out that they are having a little boy.....REED MASON WEBB! He is healthy and growing just fine, due date changed once again to October 1st. I took Brianna for her ultrasound yesterday and she is having 2 abcesses in her right ta-ta. I called the surgeon and left a message so hopefully will hear back today about the next step. The radiologist recommended on his report that she have a CT guided aspiration so we will see.

Happy Easter

Well...first of all Happy Easter to all those here in Blogland! My weekend started out rough to say the least. I got off work Friday morning after working from 7pm Thursday night. Ryan had dropped Kaylie off at the house on his way to work so that she could spend the day with me, she said she needed a "Momma and Me day". We had breakfast then went shopping, out to lunch with Kevin at Rio Grande for some yummo Mexican food, someone backed into my Trailblazer as we were backing out at the restaurant, then I took her to get her nails filled, Ryan met us there and I was off to pick up the other 2 girlies. OK....when I got there Bri told me that her boobie was hurting and that she has woke up with a knot in it. Her Daddy said it was probably just growing pains, her Mum Mum told her it was probably cancer and I had no idea what to think other than it was not normal. As the evening progressed her pain got more intense and she decided she needed to go to the hospital so I took her to my hospital. We sat for 3 hours in the waiting room before we got back to the exam room. As I was helping her into her gown I noticed how much bigger things had grown in the 3 hours since we had been there and now she was crying with pain. Shw was examined by the doc and we were told that she had an abcess in there and that in a few days they would have to take her to surgery to drain it. The admitted her into the hospital for IV antibiotics and a surgery consult. Let me tell you....Jeckyl and Hyde was present in our room. She was fine until they started talking needles. They came to start an IV and she locked herself in the bathroom. Embarrassing. Once I bribed and threatened her out of there she sat on my lap on the bed to get her IV started and she bit me. Hard. On the wrist. The nurse, a friend of mine, was nice enough to draw her blood from the IV when she started it and also gave her pain meds through it to save her a few sticks. We finally got to our room and they came to take her blood. My 12 year old screamed bloody murder as I held her down. Not fun. They gave her some Morphine which I figured would knoock her out....wrong again. I finally called her Daddy and told him to call into work and come down because she might be going to surgery and I had had about all I could take at this point. This was at 7am Saturday morning. Did anyone pick up on the part where I had not had any sleep to this point of the story? And had not eaten since lunch on Friday? Yep. She was discharged Saturday afternoon. The surgeon said that he need a few more tests run before doing surgery and they were not done on weekends so he let her go home. I have to take her next week to have an ultrasound of the mass and then to the surgeon to figure out the next step. I do have to say that I am very proud of Bri for at least one thing. SHe had a total of 6 doctors, 3 nurses plus mommma and daddy looking at and feeling her boobs which is very uncomfortable and embarrassing for a 12 year old. So...with that being said Bill and I switched off Sat morning so that I could go to bed with the promise that he would call me and keep me updated which he did. Good Daddy. Kevin took Kelsie to Chris's going away party so that I could sleep. Good Step Daddy. Chris leaves for Iraq on Tuesday so please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. And one last thing....please admire my son in laws artwork on Kaylie's baby belly. Next Thurs be ready to see either a football or princess crown because they find out what it is.

What are your favs?

I am a fan of all things girly and always looking for a new favorite. Thought I would share some of my favorites and hope you will share some of yours for some new ideas.

Right now I am in love with:

Lotion: Love Spell and Endless Love by Victorias Secret

Mascara: Mabelline Lash Stiletto

Perfume: Happy by Clinique

Shampoo: still looking for "the one"

Toenail polish: Sally Hansen "Honeymoon Red"

VO5 Extreme Style Heat Defense

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVS?

The perks at Pilot

I have to tell you that working at Pilot has it's perks. No, I dont mean getting hit on at least once in 8 hours I mean the cherry vanilla cokes with crushed ice! That is my fav treat at Sonic and since we dont get to hit that up very often I treat myself to ONE on the nights that I work. After that it is either coffee, which I am a pro at making, or diet Mt. Dew for the rest of the night. I am not normally a fan of drinking from a straw but McDonalds and the Arbys connected to Pilot have the big fat straws....you know the ones....the best ones ever invented. SO...with that being said, I am soon off to work to get hit on and enjoy my favorite treat....a cherry vanilla coke with crushed ice and a big fat straw!

Seventeen times....ARRRRGGGGHHHH!!

As you well know, I work midnight shift at 2 jobs and rarely have a night off at home...every other weekends are my days off. Last night I had a computer class at work and was home by 9pm...a rare treat. WELL....my husband snores like Paul Bunyon sawing logs and there is a pile of sawdust beside the bed every morning. I am a very light sleeper, I can hear a mouse peeing on a cotton ball half way across the room. Kevin on the other hand sleeps soundly. About 5am this morning the first of 2 alrms clocks he had set started to go off. He hit the snooze button 17 TIMES between both alarms...every 5 minutes. I was literally fit to be tied and got a few kicks of the leg in before he finally got up. By this time I am wide awake, thus the early computer time.

3 Months and Counting!

Since all of you live so far away and wont be able to see Kaylie pregnant I will post pictures and keep you updated. I am SO EXCITED to report that the picture I am posting is my idea and I am tickled that she actually listened to me!I suggested that she write how far along she was on her belly every month and take pictures to put in her baby scrapbook that I helped her get started. She ACTUALLY LISTENED! Do you know how exciting it is when your married, pregnant and teenage daughter does something that you suggested? WOO-HOO! Her belly looks cute but it makes me sick because I think my belly was that size like in 1972.....also posted a pic of the nursery theme she picked out.

It is at Walmart and Target...Fisher Price "Precious Planet" if you want to take a peek

Mrs. & Mrs. Ryan Webb

Well, it is true, my baby girl is now married and I am now a mother-in-law. We went down to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee this weekend, home of Dollywood, located in the Smokey Mountains. Kaylie & Ryan had their wedding at a little chapel located in a resort way up high in the mountains, almost to heaven as Kevin said. I helped her get ready that morning and did very well during the ceremony.....the only people who cried were me, Ryan's dad and Kelsie. Kelsie claimed that her sinuses were bothering her but whatever. Afterwards we all went out to eat at a yummy restaurant. On Friday night Kevin, the girls and I went to a restaurant called Bennett's BBQ and it was YUMM-O. The girls and I ate BBQ brisket which we never get unless we are in Texas and the last time we ate brisket was at AUntie Megan's wedding. Here are a few pics that I took but the photographer has all the good ones and I will post them once Kaylie gets home from her honeymoon. How weird does that sound? Her due date is September 25 which is weird because my due date with her was Sept 20th. She is showing some...she is 10 weeks now. She has morning sickness which hits her all day (I had the same thing too). If it is a girl they are naming her RYLIE MADISON WEBB (Rylie is a combination of RYan and KayLIE) and if it is a boy he will be RYAN MATTHEW WEBB. They are hoping for a girl but mainly just want a healthy baby. I have decided that I will be called Nana and Kevin will be Paps....Bill will be Papaw and who knows what Polly will be called. Chris...the girl's stepbrother, will be leaving for Iraq next month so remember him in your thoughts and prayer....he will be gone for a year. OH....I almost forgot the funny parts! Bill & I had to pose for pictures TOGETHER and we both got so tickled because the last time we did that was at our wedding in 1989! Polly and I were laughing because Kevin & Bill sat beside each other at the wedding and talked like a bunch of girls, just chatting it up and laughing and giggling....I have posted a picture of them together.

Happy 2009!

I was actually off on New Year's Eve for the first time since I can remember. Kevin, Cody and I went to Kevin's brother's house for some munchies and fun. We had lots of munchies in Bennett family tradition and I brought some things that my mom always makes, my fav being those little bread slices with the bacon/cream cheese spread....I can literally eat those until I get sick. Their boys got a Wii from Santa and we played that most of the night before we watched the ball drop. I am ashamed to say that I played for almost 3 hours....it is HIGHLY addictive! I have a sore arm from playing that thing....it is very interactive and you can actually get a workout from it. I wish all of you a happy and healthy 2009 and hope that is only gets better than 2008!
