Sorry but MiMi is a day behind in updates. Reed had to be put on CPAP Tuesday because he was getting tired and forgetting to breathe. He did really well and came off of it yesterday after getting caffeine doses started. He is under the bili lights for jaundice and looks so cute with his eye covers on, the nurses write little sayings on them and his nurse last night drew eyelashes on it too! He had his ultrasound of his head and he does not have any bleeds in his brain which we are ecstatic about. We are still waiting to hear the results of his ECHO (ultrasound of his heart). HIs weight is down to 1007 grams which translates to roughly 2 pounds 3 ounces. His umbilical artery line will be taken out by Monday and a PICC line put in. I am posting a picture of him on his CPAP.

MiMi & G-Pa

Kaylie got to come home today and is doing really well. They had to head back out to rent her breast pump and also meet with someone from SSI because Reed will qualify for a monthly assistance check because he is so premature and will require alot of specialized care once he is home. He will have therapists that will work with him and such. The hospital arranges all these appts and lets her know what he will need and they have been great on education and information. I am posting some pictures from my visit yesterday, for some reason I am the only one who has brought an actual camera, the guys are all using there camera phones! Kaylie & Ryan will be staying with MiMi & G-Pa (this is what Kevin and I have decided to call ourselves) for a couple of weeks.

Reed Mason Webb is here!

I am proud to announce that Reed Mason Webb was born via an emergency C-section on July 27, 2009 at 11:49pm. He weighs 2 pounds 5 ounces and is 15 inches long. He is doing great, he is in an oxygen hood that is giving him a little bit of oxygen but other than that he is doing fine. Kaylie is having some problems with some bleeding and her blood pressure but they are keeping an eye on her. The whole time she has been in the hospital Ryan has been able to stay the night but today she got a room mate and he was not allowed to stay. She called me screaming to hurry and get to the hospital that they were rushing her to the OR and Ryan would not be there in time. I barely made it....they had to put her to sleep but I was allowed to stand outside the door and once the baby was out they let me stand inside the doorway. I got to carry him over to the NICU and put him in the bed and was allowed to stay in there with him the whole time while they put an arterial line in his umbilical. Normally that is not allowed but because I work in the NICU I was granted permission. I have some pictures to post...she is in room 237 at Women & CHildren's Hospital.

Cystic Fibrosis Walk

I know that I am posting out of order but forgot this one. Back in May I raised money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and did a 5K walk (in the rain)with some of my co-workers an families of some of my patients. Part of my job , on a volunteer basis, involves doing things in the community like the Cystic Fibrosis Walk, the HealthFest as well as other things. I am very involved in committees and projects at the hospital as well as in the community as a respresentative of my department. I have several patients that I take care of on a regular basis with CF and it is a cause that is close to my heart. If you have a walk in your community try to take part or at least make a donation so that we may find a cure!
